At McArdle Chiropractic we try to keep you healthy and informed about what’s new in the healthfield….See what’s new below! And Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Why not send this newsletter along to a friend or co-worker that you have been pushing to try chiropractic? We are located at: 2220 Plainfield Pike Cranston, RI 02921 (401)383-3400
“Earthing”…a quick overview
The inventor of earthing was looking for a way to help heal his body himself. Just like cables, he realized that the electrical system of the human body can get “grounded” by the charges of the Earth. He notes that the synthetic material of our shoes can interfere with this grounding, and we are becoming too separated. When we put our bare feet on the ground, we absorb the negative ions of the Earth, which acts as an antioxidant from the free radicals we expose ourselves to everyday (pollution, second hand smoke, pesticides…) It has also been shown to alleviate inflammation and can help to reduce pain. Because we cannot spend our days outside barefoot while we are at work, they have created an “earthing mat.” So you can charge yourself up as you are working at your desk or even watching TV at night! Interesting stuff! Check it out yourself: http://www.grounded.com/earthing-mat/
It’s Corned Beef and Cabbage time soon!
Cabbage is actually quite healthy for you and here are some benefits that you may not have known:
1. It is high in Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and Sulphur
2. It has a low caloric intake and high fiber – so perfect vegetable if you want to lose weight
3. It is a great detoxifier, and can help gout, arthritis, and skin conditions
4. Cabbage Compresses can help to relieve headaches..crush the cabbage leaves and place in a cloth for 10-20 minutes. Or drink the juice of cabbage. (good luck!)
5. It is high in anti-inflammatory and blood sugar regulator properties, especially the red cabbage. Perfect compliment for salads!
Got Tight Calves?
This is a great stretch for runners, people that wear high heels most of the time, complain of shin splints, or just have tight calves….
Put your toes against the wall with your heel on the ground and push into the wall. Hold for 20-30 seconds and repeat on the other foot. Do 3 times each foot.
